IB Program
The Online Diploma Programme (DP) pilot allows students from around the world to follow the entire DP online. This pilot will deliver a fully online DP together with a small number of selected partner schools.
Together with our partners, we are exploring how we can create and reinforce collaborative learning communities and discover the advantages that a completely online DP can bring to our community.
Through the pilots the IB would like to better understand the needs of students who may not be able to attend traditional brick-and-mortar education, e.g. due to illness, commitments to extra-curricular activities such as sport and music, or migration and displacement. Young people interested in studying through the online DP pilot can apply directly through one of our partner schools, listed above.
Online schools that are taking part in this pilot are associated to brick and mortar DP schools that are exploring how they can reinforce collaborative learning communities and discover the advantages that a completely online DP can bring to the community. Online students still will take their exams in these brick and mortar schools and will be assessed in the same way as other Diploma candidates, thus, their final credentials are the same.
The May 2024 session had around 60 candidates. For May 2025, there were approximately 140 candidates enrolled in DP online programmes across 3 partner schools. This number will grow to about 200 for May 2026.
